Let's Kick ASS—AIDS Survivor Syndrome, founded in 2013, is a national grassroots movement empowering HIV Long-Term Survivors to thrive. On the ground and online, we are the first and largest nonprofit by, for and about those living longest with HIV, including people affected by the AIDS Pandemic. We envision a world where people aging with HIV live long, healthy, dignified, engaged, meaningful and productive lives, free from stigma and discrimination. By connecting to and building our resilience, we ensure healthy aging.Let's Kick ASS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. LKA is the largest group in the world devoted to, and for, the benefit of long-term survivors' issues and needs.OUR MISSION & PURPOSEDedicated to reclaiming lives, ending isolation, and helping long-term survivors envision a future that we never dreamed we'd live. We are also focused on Healthy Aging With HIV. We're raising awareness about the more than half-million people who came of age during the 1980s and '90s when having HIV was considered a death sentence. It's our goal to address the psychosocial, mental, and behavioral determinants of health and illness among long-term survivors everywhere. Our focus is to foster resilience to help heal the trauma of those who survived the AIDS epidemic by bringing people together, building a community, and ultimately making our lives better. We coined AIDS Survivor Syndrome (ASS) to describe the effects of the trauma thousands of long-term survivors are experiencing. By highlighting the resilience and strength of long-term survivors, we believe we can make a difference in the lives of survivors.
