Level Energy Technology developed a counterflow channel recuperator in 1992 and obtained patents for both the geometry and the production method. The counter flow heat exchanger was a strong improvement compared to the commonly applied cross flow heat exchangers. Consequently, Level is the founder of heat recovery from ventilation-air with high efficiency (> 90%). After granting our licence, manufacturing of plastic heat exchangers started in 1999. The heat exchangers are mainly used for centralised heat recovery units in housing. Among others, StorkAir, Itho and Stiebel Eltron were the first manufacturers who entered the market with heat recovery systems based on the Level recuperator.Since 2002 Recair, in Waalwijk, the Netherlands, produces the heat exchangers according to the Level patents. Recair became the market leader. Level was responsible for the innovation and development.In 2006, Level developed an improved geometry (the RS160), subsequently other exchangers, e.g. RS300, RS220 and RE400, an enthalpy exchanger. In total, nearly one million exchangers are produced based on the Level patents!
