Rabbis, cantors, and teachers – where can they be found for the small Jewish community in The Netherlands and with the difficult Dutch language? Educate and train people from your own country! That is exactly what the Levisson Institute does.The Levisson Institute was founded in 2002 by the Dutch progressive Jewish community. The institute educates and trains rabbis, cantors, and teachers to work within the various communities and to guide those who are looking to find their way (back) to the Jewish community.Levisson graduates are now leaders in the progressive Jewish communities and are successful in working with Jews from a variety of backgrounds with their various relationships and families. Through the quality of these Levisson graduates and our educational programs, these leaders are able to be our representatives and to present a coherent and powerful message concerning our Jewish values and interests to diverse participants in both the Jewish and the non-Jewish, Dutch society.
