The cultivation of this olive oil, which is arguably the most flavorful in all of Italy, has become economically unsustainable due to international competition from industrially produced olive oil blends. Libellula proposes transforming the practice into a profitable enterprise.A bottle of Libellula olive oil also has a story that brings the buyer closer to the earth, history and tradition. Augustus' agronomists selected the Sabina region to plant thousands of trees and build mills and amphorae factories for the conservation, packaging and transportation of the oil, once known as the ‘Gold of Rome.' The olives were picked according to criteria that are still followed today, including the reading of weather cues, lunar phases and plant cycles.
