The Library Of Africa and The African Diaspora (LOATAD) is a decolonised library, archive, museum, and events and culture space in Accra, Ghana.Established in 2017, LOATAD champions the work of African and Diaspora storytellers from the late 19th-century to the present day. Our expansive collection features +/- 4000 books by, and ephemera from, writers from 41 of Africa's 54 countries and Black authors from the Americas, the Caribbean, Europe, and beyond. LOATAD has been featured on the BBC, Al Jazeera, France 24, SABC, and in Le Monde and, last year, LOATAD was named by the influential international art magazine, Artforum, as one of its "Best of 2020."
