Lifebox was founded to help people connect and communicate in a more substantial way using digital technologies.Lifebox was a digital platform that used AI-powered, 1:1 or group Q&A to help people reflect on life and discover more about family and friends. The product featured hundreds of crowd-sourced questions about life, pop culture, goals, and more. Users could answer questions privately for a moment of individual reflection, send questions to others to spark conversations with friends and family, or create their own to start a unique thread. The answers and conversations these questions inspires were logged in a personal timeline/journal to naturally help people tell their life stories. The company raised a seed round of funding in August of 2013, and launched a series of products for the web and Android that attracted thousands of users. Ultimately, Lifebox bumped up against challenging consumer market conditions and new products from Facebook, such as Moments and Memories, that diluted the company's value proposition. Lifebox closed in December of 2014.
