LimeAid is a registered Canadian charity that exists to advance vocational education in agriculture, which will produce sustainable development in Haiti. Based upon work with numerous Professor Elliott Currie's 4th year interdisciplinary students at the University of Guelph, we are currently planning to establish & operate a College of Agricultural Studies on the Ile de la Gonave, Haiti, so as to create jobs on an island of 120k "poorest of the poor" that struggles with 85% unemployment. The College will also systemically improve the productivity of farmers so that this island (which currently imports 80% of needed products, including food) can become a net exporter of food in 5-10 years. Our charity has "a twist" in that we plan for the College to be financially self-sustaining in 5 years, and that students of the 3-year post Secondary School program will not graduate without creating a job for themselves. At LimeAid, we are ever mindful that we plant and water, but that it is God who truly gives the increase (to paraphrase 1 Corinthians 3:6)
