Empower the underserved youth of East LA with the opportunity to reach their potential through academic support, community service, and leadership development.The Lincoln Heights Tutorial Program (LHTP) provides afterschool homework and tutoring services to over 500 K-8th grade children annually in East LA communities of Lincoln Heights, Boyle Heights, Chinatown and El Sereno.LHTP also provides youth leadership and development training to over 600 teenagers each year through youth programs Youth United for Community Action (YUCA), Junior Youth Club (JYC), and Increase the Peace (IP) youth advocacy committee.Through our free K-8th tutoring services and youth programs for our teens, LHTP has supported generations of underserved youth. The historic Lincoln Heights community represents determination and progress, but face ever widening opportunity gaps. -99% of local students belong to a minority group -93% of local students are economically disadvantaged -Lincoln Heights alone is home to over 3,000 youth living in poverty -41% of adults have less than a high school educationClosing the opportunity gap goes beyond the classroom. Our tutoring programs ensure that our 500 K-8th kids enter high school prepared. 99% of our teens within our youth programs enter college after high school. With the support of LHTP, thousands of alumni have gone on to reach success in their academic, professional, and personal lives.
