In 1975, Startco cooperated with the potash industry to develop a solid-state starter for potash conveyors. This starter had a conservative thermal design and digital controls that were ahead of their time-it soon became the standard for the industry. In the first ten years, Startco introduced innovative electronic products and power-centre designs that were primarily motivated by a close association with the potash industry. Startco continued to work closely with the potash industry in its second decade; however, other industries and markets also influenced Startco's growth. In October 2009, Startco was acquired by Littelfuse Inc. and now operates under the name of Littelfuse Startco. Today, Littelfuse Startco is in its fourth decade as a manufacturing company that builds engineered and standard electrical products for coal, hard-rock, uranium, salt, and potash mines as well as for the forest-products, dairy, utility, petroleum, and fertilizer industries. Littelfuse Startco has an extensive distributor network in North America and our products are sold internationally in South America, South Africa, Australia, Europe, and Asia.
