The real Living Wage is an hourly rate of pay, set independently, and updated in November each year. It is calculated according to the basic cost of living in the UK and employers choose to pay it on a voluntary basis. The real Living Wage is currently £9.50 across the UK and £10.85 in London.Living Wage accreditation celebrates employers that choose to go further than the government minimum, by paying the real Living Wage to all relevant workers. Accreditation is the process where an employer applies for the licence rights to display the Living Wage employer mark, a recognised symbol of responsible business practice.Living Wage Scotland was established in April 2014 with the aim of increasing the number of employers in Scotland who are recognised for paying their staff the real Living Wage. Hosted by the Poverty Alliance, we work in partnership with the Living Wage Foundation and are funded by the Scottish Government.Paying the real Living Wage has benefits for business, workers and society and employers are proud to be part of a growing civil society movement that ensures their employees earn enough to support a decent standard of living.There are now over 7,000 accredited Living Wage employers across the UK with over 2,000 of those based in Scotland
