Late Narayan Meghaji Lokhande Maharashtra Institute of Labour Studies - LNML MILS (Government of Maharashtra), was established in July 1947 by the then Government of Bombay owing to the initiative and under the inspiring guidance of Bharatratna Shri. Gulzarilal Nanda the then Minister for Labour, Mumbai. The Institute is recognized by the University of Mumbai as Post Graduate education and research institute in the field of Labour Studies under the Maharashtra Universities Act,1994. Since inception, the institute has been creating excellent professionals to discharge their duties and responsibilities, particularly in the fields of Labour welfare, Industrial Relations, Personnel Management and Human Resources Development. Initially the focus was on Labour Welfare followed by Industrial Relations and today the Institute imparts training in Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations and Labour Welfare. This is a State level Institute devoted to education, training and research in the field of Labour Studies.\\What distinguishes the labour studies programme from some other HR programmes is the course structure which is a unique blend of Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management. The course is characterized by rigorous fieldwork apart from the strong theoretical learning.
