Based out of Lincoln, NE, Locabal is a student-led startup whose mission is to connect producers of handcrafted items with buyers both locally and globally. Locabal is a combination of the words "local" and "global".Why We Care:In the past decade, society has transitioned into the "Walmart-Era." Instead of buying from local sellers, consumers make trips every few weeks or so to the large, corporate-chain super-store to stock up on 10lb jars of mayonnaise and a 50-pack of underwear. Because of this, small businesses have suffered greatly and the sense of community has been lost. Our goal is not only to reconnect buyers with the things they buy, but to improve the relationships they have with sellers.Locabal recognizes that an artisan's success depends on strong support from both their local community and the global marketplace. Buyers who are looking for handcrafted items care about the artisan that created the product. Consumers aren't looking to buy cheap, mass-produced items; they are looking for unique, quality products. They care about the story behind what they are buying.
