We distribute, stream, and license music to local stores and brands in Columbus, Ohio.Distribution:Every aspect of our project involves unique people doing unique things. Master iron workers, woodworkers, musicians, store owners, volunteers and supporters have worked together to bring Local Music Shelf to life.Through them, we've created artisan crafted displays that showcase local music at local stores. Each Local Music Shelf displays thirty or more local albums. Customers can peruse local music while at the checkout, and download free local music through our giveaway program.In 2015, Local Music Shelf will distribute local music at 50 stores in Columbus, Ohio. We'll sell many local albums through this distribution, providing the majority of sales back to local artists. Our main goal is to help people notice and appreciate local music in the Columbus community.Streaming:We're testing the beta of our streaming service. We're providing stores with a convenient and cost effective way to stream local music, and advertise to their customers. This service helps local musicians get paid through royalties we collect on their behalf through performing rights organizations. And best of all, it helps local consumers hear and appreciate the local music created in our city.Licensing:Local Music Shelf can clear the master rights to a large catalog of local, independent music.
