Overview and Mission of Lock & Load TV Series:15 years and 2 wars have strained our military to the breaking point. Over 6000 killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, more than 25,000 wounded, all borne by less than 2% of our population. Last year over 300,000 veterans were homeless for at least one night, and 160,000 are chronically homeless. 22 veterans commit suicide every day. Those sobering statistics simultaneously dominate and get lost in the dearth of news that filters through network,cable, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.There is a proliferation in network TV focusing primarily on a narrow sector of specialized war fighters (The Brave, Seal Team 6...) Lock & Load–Chicago is an episodic TV series recounting real life stories of our veterans. Set against the backdrop of a veteran suicide outreach center in Chicago, the series describes the visible and the invisible wounds that so many veterans return home with. This series will merge the experiences of active military and connect back to the after math and challenges facing veterans as they reintegrate. L & L Chicago will bridge that divide by collapsing the distance between active military and civilian life.
