Located in the heart of London, The Place is a creative powerhouse for dance development that is leading the way in dance training, creation and performance.One of Europe's most exciting, innovative dance spaces, where artists from all over the world come to push creative boundaries, to experiment and to perform outstanding new work for audiences who expect to be surprised, inspired and delighted. The Place is home to London Contemporary Dance School, Richard Alston Dance Company, a 288 seat theatre, an extensive range of classes, courses and participatory opportunities for adults and young people, and professional development programmes for artists.London Contemporary Dance School is our world-class conservatoire, offering vocational training to the highest technical and artistic standards in its undergraduate, taught postgraduate and research programmes, and at a pre-vocational level through our Centre for Advanced Training. The School supports the training of approximately 190 students each year, drawn from all over the world, while the Centre for Advanced Training works with young people drawn from the south of England aged 11-18. The School is a founding affiliate of the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama, through which its programmes are funded by HEFCE, and its degrees are validated by the University of Kent. A pioneer of the concept of Centres for Advanced Training, The Place now benefits from the emerging network of CATs throughout England.Our theatre presents over 200 performances a year, including festivals and special events such as Resolution, the UK's biggest festival for emerging artists and Family Dance Day. The theatre has a strong reputation for its international programming alongside supporting UK based dance artists and is a part of the European Dancehouse Network.
