Cancer is the second most common cause of death globally and was responsible for an estimated 9.6 million deaths in 2018, of which 70% occurred in the low- and middle-income countries. In 2020, COVID-19 emerged as cancer's new best friend. The Coronavirus pandemic is threatening to overwhelm the fragile and overstretched health systems of low- and middle-income countries and having a catastrophic impact on the prevention and care of cancers worldwide.Launched in 2019, London Global Cancer Week has become the leadinginternational forum for discussing all aspects of cancer prevention and treatment in the low- and middle-income countries, in addition to cancer's place on the Global Development agenda.
