Sports Clubs/Sports Entertainment - New York, NY, US
The Long Island Community Boathouse provides western Queens with educational and recreational paddling. Our programs raise awareness about estuary ecology with the goal of restoring the natural beauty and health of New York Harbor for today's and future generations. You know us as the long yellow boats going up and down the East River. We primarily achieve our mission through three community sponsored programs: Hallets Cove Walk-up Paddles, our best known events, run on alternate Saturdays or Sundays, in the protection of Hallets Cove, at the northern end of Socrates Sculpture Park. Children are welcome if accompanied by a parent. Weekend Paddles open new visions of the NY harbor. Weekday Paddles provide beautiful views of Roosevelt Island, Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn. Paddlers with the LICCBh experience one of the most sensational sunsets in New York! Our activities are sponsored by community donations, Parks Department grants and fundraising events. Follow us on Facebook and twitter at https://www.facebook.com/BoathouseLIC http://twitter.com/licboathouse We are currently accepting volunteers for the following positions: Trip Leader, Communications Manager, Quartermaster, Trip Assistant, Dockmaster.
