We have a clear mission at Longdean Capital: deliver exceptional returns to our investors over the long-term. We seek to achieve these returns by applying in-house fundamental analysis to equities in inefficient markets and adopting a long-term approach. We only invest in companies where we understand the sector and region well and where our in-house research shows intrinsic value not reflected in the current market price. We prefer companies with entrenched market positions, strong cash flow generation and low levels of financial leverage. We have a responsible investing framework and aim to invest in businesses that create and sustain a positive economic and social impact. We take a truly long-term view and focus on evaluating the prospects for companies over the coming five to ten years. This longer-term investment horizon allows us to filter out market noise, profit from dislocations and enjoy the benefits of compounding. We concentrate our research on emerging and frontier markets, which we deem to be deeply inefficient. These markets have some of the most attractive growth prospects globally driven by demographic trends and structural reform. However, they tend to be under-researched, have low foreign ownership and have a high prevalence of short-term ‘retail-minded' investors. These inefficiencies can lead to meaningful mispricings, which we look to capitalise on using our deep knowledge base and network of contacts in these markets.
