Waste/Recycling/Environmental - Bridgton, ME, US
Loon Echo Land Trust's (LELT) mission is to protect land in seven towns in the northern Sebago Lake region of Maine (Oxford and Cumberland Counties) by conserving the natural resources and character of the area for the benefit of current and future generations. In 2017, Loon Echo achieved national accreditation through the Land Trust Alliance a distinction that assures the public and donors that it has processes and procedures in place for long term sustainability.Since its incorporation in 1987, Loon Echo has protected nearly 6,700 acres in seven towns - Bridgton, Casco, Denmark, Naples, Harrison, Sebago, Raymond. These lands, protected through permanent conservation easement or fee acquisition, consist of plant and animal habitat, vernal pools, wetlands, open fields, forests, farms, mountain tops, and waterfront lands. Over 4,100 acres are included in 10 preserves with an additional 2547 acres of conservation easements held by Loon Echo. Preserves include over 2,500 acres of iconic Pleasant and Bald Pate Mountains. LELT is currently working hard to protect additional mountain and watershed lands with the support of its members, the public and grants.
