LAMDL is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that promotes access to the life changing activity of competitive debate for students in Los Angeles area public schools. LAMDL was founded in 2007 and since our inception we have expanded to support debate programs at over 25 high schools, serving more than 600 students per year. Our mission is to restore access to competitive policy debate throughout LA's under-served public schools. LAMDL harnesses the excitement of competitive team sports to inspire students from across the academic spectrum to spend countless hours doing original research, constructing arguments, and engaging in complex policy debate – essentially, using the thrill of competition to inspire rigorous self-directed learning.
