Public Safety - Los Angeles, California, United States
The mission of the Los Angeles Police Foundation (LAPF) is to create partnerships to provide resources and programs that help the police perform at their highest level and to enhance Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD)-community relations.\\With more than 96 percent of the LAPD's budget spent on personnel, there is little left for major projects that will enhance efficiency and modernization of the department. The city budget is stretched to a deficit and federal government grants to local law enforcement are shrinking. \\Every day the job carried out by the Los Angeles Police Department gets more complex, larger, tougher and more dangerous, and as a result, more expensive. Modern policing requires a high level of sophistication in officer safety, communications, technology and community outreach.
