The Los Angeles World Affairs Council (LAWAC) is a nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to engaging people in world affairs through international speaker programs, cultural events and education programs. Established in 1953, LAWAC has hosted some 250 foreign heads of state and eight US Presidents along with a long list of other distinguished speakers, and is the biggest foreign affairs forum in southern California. \\LAWAC puts on some 50-60 events a year. LAWAC actively collaborates with LA's universities, major museums and cultural institutions and the LA foreign consular corps to attract speakers and run events across a broad array of international themes in politics, the economy, technology, culture and the arts. LAWAC has a broad membership and is motivated to "bring the world to LA and bring LA to the world".
