Lotus Garden consciously deviates away from dysfunctional and outdated conventional schooling system that originated in the 18th-19th century France-and-Prussia militarism, Europe's early industrial/factories settings, and colonialism. The system has always based on uniformity, standardization, coerced learning, memorization and testing of facts, docile thinking, confinement of motivation for learning merely to pass exams, and disregard of diversity and interconnectedness among humans, cultures, and natural environment.As an alternative to conventional schooling system, Lotus Garden offers organic, holistic and personalized education for children from all walks of life in Burma/Myanmar starting with its own kindergarten through to high school.Lotus Garden re-imagines and re-defines the goals and key outcomes of education to be: creativity, emotional intelligence, moral integrity, compassion, and wisdom because they are the essential qualities that will enable children/students to thrive in this 21st century.Lotus Garden nurtures and cultivates the aforementioned crucial qualities in children while at the same time honoring childhood for the unique and particular stage that it is, through cutting-edge education approach that brings together and carefully integrates ‘Wisdom of the East', ‘Science of the West', and ‘Nourishing power of Nature' in the setting of serene natural environment with abundant healing and nourishing energy. Lotus Garden is running on the model of ‘social enterprise' whose main aim is to generate social benefits and contribute to positive change in Myanmar. The School is serving children and parents from all walks of life in Myanmar, especially those in Pyin Oo Lwin/May Myo area for now. A significant percentage of partial and full scholarships are reserved for children from financially-disadvantaged families.
