Love City's mission is to simply love our neighbors and community, creating a culture that empowers a movement of loving people as they are.In 2015 Shawn and Inga Arvin purchased a Portland landmark known as the Mackin Center, an old community center originally built and run by the Catholic church in the 1890s. Love City will use this building to begin to fulfill its mission in the Portland Neighborhood. Love City's mission extends beyond the walls of the Mackin Building. Each area of the building will have programs that are de- signed to fulfill the Love City Mission as well as contribute to the overall sustain- ability of the building itself. The center has 20,000 square feet of space includ- ing a full basketball gym, and ballroom. The programs in the building will focus on helping kids to young adults dream and not only obtain skills but discover God's love for them, allowing Him to transform them so they can know His purpose for them. Our Story:We were living in the Crescent Hill neighborhood of Louisville when we felt God call us over to the western side of downtown Louisville to the Portland neighborhood. Through the process of looking for a house God revealed He wanted us to purchase an old community center and use it for His purposes. We started renovations on a 100 year old house completely gutting it and rebuilding from the inside out. Shortly after we finished renovating our house we threw a block party for the neighborhood and fed and worshiped with our neighbors. We are not planted by a church but are just following God's calling. We are the church, but not a church building. We would love for everyone to join us loving where we are, Neighbors Loving Neighbors.Goals:Help youth find their identity in Christ, Live the life of abundance, and become disciples of Christ.Spirit, Body and Soul Approach with:• Economic Opportunity• Education• Health and Nutrition• Discipleship Training• Evangelism Training
