Love Kawatiri (LK) was formed as a Community Trust in 2018 with the intention of providing a platform for supporting and leading community-led projects, initiatives and enterprises in the various towns and communities of the Kawatiri/Buller District. Our kaupapa/purpose is "To unleash the strengths and potential in Kawatiri, enabling the community to take the lead in creating a positive future." Our vision is for the development of a Kawatiri community that recognises its strengths and potential, is self-determined and empowered to create a positive future. We aim to be a vital part of a positive and thriving community that embraces change and enables all people to connect and contribute. We want Kawatiri to be a place where people's ideas and dreams can be expressed, nurtured and brought to life. A place where we work together to create a safe, fun, vibrant, healthy, cohesive, sustainable and prosperous district for ourselves, our whānau and future generations. LK seeks to achieve this by: • Engaging: supporting and nurturing people to turn their passions into action • Connecting: people and organisations, creating networks and enabling collaboration • Co-ordinating: providing co¬ordination of resources to support community initiatives • Communicating: celebrating our stories and successes• Creating: supporting and developing community-led projects/initiatives that make a positive impact on our communities' future. The work of LK is guided by the following 5 core principles of Community ¬Led Development, whereby we work together to create and achieve locally-led visions and goals. These are:1. Aspirational: Shared local visions drive action and change 2. Strengths¬-based: Utilise existing strengths and assets 3. Collective: Many people, groups and sectors working together 4. Empowering: Building diverse and collaborative local leadership 5. Agile: Working adaptively, our learning informs our planning and action
