My passion, as a custom modern furniture designer/maker, is combining art and function. My two loves are the juxtaposition of complementary and contrasting elements, materials and ideas & the collaboration with others. The skills and insights I gained from training in sculpture and furniture making, in addition to my continuing study of modern art, design and furniture provide the foundation for my work.I employ a multi-dimensional layering of ideas and a diverse material palette. Included are natural & man-made, traditional (metal, stone, glass, wood, plastic, etc) & new, found objects and a substantial catalog of sustainable (green) products to create my unique, heirloom quality furniture. I delight in mixing it up!I value and invite collaboration. I believe it enhances and expand the design process to produce new ideas, open new doors and keep the design process sharp and fresh. Two heads are better than one. To develop new designs, I use a subtractive process. All ideas (the good, the bad and the ugly) for a new design are ‘put on the table' and open for discussion.
