Lumen Energia championed the idea of energy generation through utilization of Biomass residues in Pakistan. The first Letter of Intent was issued to Lumen Energia for setting up a 12 MW Biomass fueled power project, due to the various benefits and positive impacts associated with its implementation. These benefits ranged from poverty alleviation through creation of market for Agriculture residues as an alternative indigenous fuel and its procurement from local economy, to; energy generation in an environmentally friendly manner owing to the project's carbon neutrality.LE Renewable Energy Biomass fueled power project will also create employment, and vocational trainings opportunities for local population. Furthermore, the project will act as a stimulus for poverty alleviation by creating a market for biomass residues. All farmers in Jhang District will be able to sell biomass to the Lumen Energia. In September, 2010, the Government of Pakistan's Alternative Energy Development Board issued a Letter of Intent directing the project company to conduct a feasibility study for its proposed Biomass fueled power project. The feasibility study has been completed and submitted to the AEDB and approval was granted by the AEDB.Lumen Energia (LE) is committed to produce electricity in sustainable, renewable and environmentally clean form. LE is developing its first 12 MW - biomass fueled - power plant in district Jhang, province of Punjab, Pakistan.
