Luminosity is a coaching company situated in Pretoria. We offer private, life and executive coaching. Our services also include guest speakers and workshop facilitation. The term ‘Luminosity' is used in astronomy and refers to the intrinsic light of a celestial body. This forms the basis of the Luminosity Coaching approach. We believe that by tapping into your intrinsic motivation, you find the resources you need to experience a more meaningful, fulfilled life.Coaching is often associated with change and this is perhaps the most fundamental aspect of our methodology. The verb, to change, is defined as to "become different." The underlying narrative for this approach to change suggests that who you are needs to be different. We prefer to regard change as similar to evolving. To evolve is defined as "to develop slowly often into a better, more complex, or more advanced state"Some might advocate that change is aimed at behaviour and not identity. However, research shows that who you are is intrinsically linked to your actions. Therefor attempts to change habits and behaviours will ultimately fail unless the ‘self' is mobilised to buy into ‘alternative ways of doing and being' (Parker, 2007).Professor Ian Parker concluded in his research on change that individuals are capable of transitioning, but that it is dependent on their ability to consider new information and adopt alternative representations of the self and what it is capable of (Parker, 2007). This is why we do not follow a ‘one size fits all' approach to coaching. Instead we value and respect you as the expert on your life. We provide you with up to date, peer reviewed research that is relevant to your situation. We then collaborate with you to explore and experiment with the information the research provides to customise an implementation strategy that aligns with your strengths and preferences.
