The Lupus Foundation of America is the largest nonprofit organization that is dedicated to finding the causes and cure for lupus, as well as, providing support, services and hope to all the people affected with lupus in the United States. The Lupus Foundation of America obtains nearly 300 integrated chapters across the United States, with some covering multiple areas, such as the Mid-South Chapter.The Mid-South Chapter was established in Nashville, Tenn. by Eloise Taylor in 1977. The chapter began as a small group of women that met at each other's homes in efforts to support one another by discussing common lupus symptoms, remedies and how to reach out to others that carry this mysterious disease.In over 25 years, the Lupus Foundation of America, Mid-South Chapter has grown from a small group of lupus patients meeting on a monthly basis, to approximately 1,000 members. The chapter has moved from a budget of under $5,000 to a budget over $200,000. It has also transitioned to a community board with varied talents and skills.The LFAM offers several ways to contribute to the fight against lupus. It holds five walks over a tri-state region (Alabama, Kentucky and Tennessee). It also offers several support groups in its territory. Contact our office to find one nearest you.
