Lydgalleriet is Norway's only permanent exhibition platform for sound art and sound related art practices, with an ongoing exploration the plethora of sound based art practices and auditive cultures. The gallery was initiated by a group of musicians, sound artists and art historians in 2005 and founded formally in 2007. Lydgalleriet works with artists with bold and often untraditional sonic interests relating to spacial and sculptural qualities. We also work with artists showing a critical engagement in contemporary cultural issues through various sonic mediums. One of Lydgalleriet's long-term ambitions is to develop public conversation, discourse and criticism within the sound art field and its peculiarity within contemporary art.
