Published since 1969 Maandblad de Krant (formerly ‘De Hollandse Krant') caters to the large, but largely invisible, because thoroughly integrated, Dutch immigrant community in North America. De Krant is a unique periodical, the only Dutch language magazine in North-America and the only monthly for the Dutch community. With readers in all US states and all Canadian provinces our contributors mirror that spread. Of Dutch heritage themselves, they offer a glimpse into the ordinary, and sometimes not so ordinary, lives of a unique group of people: settled Dutch immigrants, whether they were born here or arrived in 1957, or 1975, or 2007. Our focus is not on hard current news. That's available in copious amounts on-line. We prefer to concentrate on background articles and news that is particularly surprising or may have been missed by the mainstream media. But more even than news we like to bring ‘gezellig' and informative articles from our North-American columnists. We feel very much at ease in our new (or not so new) homeland, but are also proud of our heritage. At least once a month, when de Krant arrives.
