Maasai Mara University is University is one of the world's leading research universities. The University was chartered in 2013 to operate as a fully-fledged institution, having started in 2007 as a Constituent College of Moi University. The University currently has a student population of over 10,000 students. The University is strategically situated between Maasai Mara Game reserve - the 7th wonder of the world, famous for the wildebeest migration and home to unique wildlife species and the Mau Forest complex, one of Kenya's most incredible water towers.The University has positioned itself as a Centre of excellence in Natural Resources, Tourism, Hotel and Hospitality Management, Science and Technology, Agriculture, taking full advantage of its location and the opportunities it presents.The University's strategic plan 2019-2024 is geared towards setting up several projects, including A processing plant for indigenous food and medicinal products, research and training laboratories, sanctuary, and campsite in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, a zoo, and a zoological museum.
