Architecture Firm/Engineering Firm - Waitsfield, VT, US
Maclay Architects is recognized for innovation and leadership in environmental design. Maclay Architects specializes in healthy, beautiful, and nature-connected Net Zero energy design. We have developed a replicable and proven energy model and financial assessment method that demonstrates that Net Zero buildings are typically more cost effective than conventional buildings. All current projects are Net Zero, Net Zero ready, or near Net Zero buildings. These projects include NRG Systems (an office and manufacturing facility), the Bennington Superior Courthouse and State Office Building, the George D. Aiken Center at the University of Vermont, the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens Bosarge Family Education Center, Suncommon Headquarters, an environmental learning center for Mass Audubon at Drumlin Farms, Waitsfield and Moretown Town Offices, and numerous homes. Our firm offices are a model of environmental design, historic renovation, and are certified Net Zero energy through the International Living Futures Institute (ILFI). Bill's and Maclay Architect's work has been published in many magazines and books, has been acknowledged with numerous design and environmental awards, and has been exhibited internationally. Maclay Architects has four ILFI certified projects, eight LEED-NC and CI projects completed, all at either the gold or platinum levels. Also, Maclay Architects has 14 completed or nearly completed commercial and institutional projects that are Net Zero or Net Zero ready, ranging in size from 3,000 SF to over 65,000 SF and four Net Zero or Net Zero ready homes that are either complete or under construction. We have designed 9 LEED certified projects, all at the Gold or Platinum level. Maclay Architects was the recipient of the 2012 NESEA Zero Energy Building Award.
