Political Organization - Tel Aviv-Yafo, , Israel
What sets the Center apart is the combination of the social and the economic dimensions, both in terms of the topics it deals with and the research methods that it adopts. The interaction between the economic models and the social models are reflected in the many studies conducted by the Center on economic reforms in Israel in an era of globalization: analysis of state budgets, socio-economic aspects of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, voluntary national service: a cost-benefit analysis, the status of women in Israel, the identity of Israeli youth, social security and the socioeconomic standing of different sectors in the Israeli population. Alongside the studies conducted, the Center promotes a discourse on the broad range of issues that it addresses by creating platforms for discussion that are open to the general public, and by organizing conferences and seminars. Events held by the Center included: three conferences on "the social alliance" that were open to the public in 2014-2015, and hosted in collaboration with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Israel Foundation, with the participation of leading organizations in various fields, aimed at improving the socioeconomic future of the country's citizens; a roundtable seminar at the Knesset, designed to provide a framework for promoting issues pertaining to young people and to set the stage for various initiatives with a view to formulating a consistent and comprehensive policy on Israel's youth; activity that is conducted under the auspices of the IEPN (The Israeli-European Policy Network) in the framework of which the Macro Center and its partners forge a dialogue between the decision-makers and key public figures on issues pertaining to Israel-Europe relations and issues concerning the Middle East; and a forum on the education system in Israel with the participation of Government Ministers, Knesset members, and educators.
