Media Production - Norwich, England, United Kingdom
Macro is a collection of Global Voices. The goal of the magazine is to give voice to the everyday people of this world who we believe are not properly represented in the media on the issues which are of importance to all of us. Macro asks those people - you - to tell us about their lives, their experiences, their stories. Each issue of Macro aims to gather voices from across all seven continents. We are interested in everyone - farmers and doctors, teachers and delivery drivers, check out clerks, students, retirees, lawyers, politicians, chefs, waitresses, artists, the unemployed. With this diverse representation of experiences we hope to give depth to the portrayal of each issue presented.Macro is a drawing together of a chorus of different voices. We strongly believe that, by presenting a genuinely wide-ranging group of people, we can turn issues flattened by factual reports into three-dimensional, living, breathing stories. We want to highlight problems, difficulties, tragedies great and small. But we also aim to uplift, to have fun, and to laugh. We don't think you need to be a professional writer to be worth listening to. That is why we have, since inception, encouraged non-writers to submit. We want to know what's on your mind, unpolished and real. Each issue focuses on one topic -- a topic that affects in one way or another, everyone. We ask our contributors simply to react to that single word, theme, or question, and we are rewarded with a wave of creation that we collate to form our issue. We have essays, poetry, paintings, photographs, even single sentences. We receive them in different languages, different registers. Some make us weep, some are funny. All are moving. Macro is fun and laughter. It is raw and honest. It is sad and joyous. It is you and me.
