Mad Mouth Poetry is a coalition of multi-cultural poets who strive to create & maintain spaces of self-expression that are anti-racist, anti-sexist, and safe for everyone. We seek to prioritize and amplify the voices of poets that we believe to be under-represented: poets of color, intersectional feminist poets, and poets who are non-binary or non-conforming with regards to gender identity and sexual orientation. We give light to people who have felt strange in any capacity; that anything they have said or done has been held against them. In this way Mad Mouth is against the law. We aim to find work from people that have been marginalized or underrepresented, particularly from voices who live within the junctures of identity. We understand that individuality is a fluid spectrum that can never be pinned down, categorized or defined, so we seek to create spaces for self-expression, and promote work that provokes creativity atypical from the norm. All are welcome.
