The Made in Melbourne Film Festival is an exclusive showcase for Melbourne filmmakers and short films that are 'Made in Melbourne'. MIM celebrates the desire, drive, and diversity of our local film community by screening the very best short films Melbourne has to offer. Short film is a diverse art form. It can create instant characters, employ well-timed twists, say much with so little, explore themes and styles which it's bigger brother - the feature - simply cannot sustain. A great short film will captivate and entertain, provoke and enlighten, challenge and inspire. And nobody makes great short films quite like Melbourne. Yes, the Made In Melbourne Film Festival is unapologetically proud. Our city by the bay has a thriving film community and festival culture and MIM aims to provide emerging and established filmmakers a platform to showcase their work in front of their peers and an appreciative audience. Now in our fifth year, MIM continues to grow and offer filmmakers fantastic prizes and accolades. Last year the festival screened at the majestic Astor Theatre and the stylish Order of Melbourne, highlighting a great range of talent, and encouraging crowd interaction by hosting Q & A with the filmmakers and allowing the audience to decide the winners. Even more is in store for 2013; with support from the Melbourne City Council we have big and bold plans to expand the festival like never before. MIM is just getting started ...
