VPT (Village Players Theater) strives to give the Oak Park, River Forest and surrounding Chicagoland theatre community the experience of Regional Theatre style programming with the intimacy of a storefront theatre. VPT houses under one roof two separate play seasons in two separate spaces as well as a Professional Training Center and a Youth Training Center.VPT's Mainstage Theatre will be focused exclusively on the discovery and promotion of the New American Classic. Plays that have been written, developed, produced and published post - 1960.We are equally committed to producing specially themed seasons in our 50 seat Studio Theatre. Each new season will bring a new theme, allowing us to explore different cultures, different time periods, styles and movements. In addition , we aim to provide a professional and structured environment for the training of aspiring actors and theatre artists, as well as continuing education and training for the experienced professional.
