Magofarm is a waste to nutrients insect technology startup that converts organic waste from Africa's major cities into protein ingredients for animal feed formulation and organic fertilizer. We have developed a technology that harnesses the natural potential of insects to provide an environmentally beneficial alternative for food waste by creating sustainable, high-quality feed ingredients and organic fertilizer. In Africa a lot of food wastage has been reported with almost 50 percent of the food produced wasted every year. According to the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the amount of food wasted on the continent is enough to feed 300 million people. In East Africa alone, nearly 40% of fruit and vegetables end up being discarded. Using organic waste as the only raw material, we are solving for the rising costs of animal feed in Africa, and the demand for sustainable, eco-friendly & nutrient rich protein ingredients. Our company was founded to convert food waste into valuable proteins which can offset fishmeal as an unsustainable ingredient in aquaculture, livestock and pet feeds. As a by-product, we also produce organic fertilizer that is distributed to rural smallholder farmers at affordable rates compared to synthetic fertilizers.
