Mahila Jagriti Sansthan has been working for last 26 years directly with vulnerable and marginalized community, particularly women and children, who are struggling with poverty, social exclusion and gender injustice across two districts of Bihar (Darbhanga and Madhubani) and mobilising and campaigning to challenge the structural causes of trafficking, child labour and gender based violence and injustices.The organisation carries out its activities around the thematic areas like, Women Empowerment, Child Rights (Care and Development), Disability, Anti Trafficking, Health, Nutrition, Sanitation and Water and Livelihood Promotion.Mahila Jagriti Sansthan has established its identity and credentials as a support agency for small grass root agencies engaged in the processes of community empowerment and development, particularly with women and children. More than 30 Volunteers of Bihar have associated themselves with MJS for their capacity building and organizational development support.Mahila Jagriti Sansthan has been successful in creating models through direct field interventions and partners with those who are engaged in facilitating change at the community level and building their capacity to accelerate change that has helped to confront the causes of extreme poverty, child labour, trafficking and gender based violence and injustices.
