MAKScientific Is Developing Drugs To Treat Disease By Targeting the Endocannabinoid System. MAKScientific is developing drugs to treat a variety of medical disorders by modulating the endocannabinoid system. Our approach involves the selective targeting of known components of this biochemical system which includes the cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2), a number of enzymes (FAAH, NAAA, DGL and MGL) and the cannabinoid transporter system. MAKScientific has a large and growing portfolio of small molecule modulators of each target some of which have shown proof-of-concept in selected animal models of human disease. An advanced drug candidate (AM6545) is a peripherally restricted CB1 receptor antagonist that may offer a new way to control chronic liver disease and metabolic disorders.
