Make Fashion Clean (MFC) is on a mission to disband denim dumping, the system by which post-consumer jeans worn in the U.S. are dumped in landfills locally and globally. Guided by a pursuit of environmental justice, we collaborate with artisans at an innovative upcycling studio in Ghana to create new products out of rescued denim. We also research the environmental health effects of post-consumer fashion pollution and educate about reducing textile consumption.MFC is working towards a future where global contexts are no longer negatively affected by post-consumer fashion pollution from the U.S. We believe artisans working in countries throughout the Global South (with a focus on Ghana) must have autonomy to grow sustainable businesses. They will contribute creatively to their communities through generating meaningful work within a flourishing circular economy.
