The first Filipino-American TV Talk Show. "Makilala" means "get to know" in Tagalog. Get to know us as we talk to the community leaders, innovators, advocates and emerging artists who affect Filipino life in the NY Tri-state area. Produced through the facilities of Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN) IT TAKES A COMMUNITY MAKILALA TV talk show was founded by two women, QPTV public access producer Maricor Fernandez and journalist Cristina DC Pastor, who met in 2013 and wondered, ‘Sure, why not?' Three smart, independent, talented and opinionated women came on board as co-hosts: Jen Furer, Maria Cruz Lee and Rachelle Ocampo. Cristina completes the table. In the Summer of 2013, MAKILALA (meaning ‘get to know' in Tagalog) was born as a monthly TV talk show on Queens Public Television in Flushing, the first talk show for the Filipino American community in the New York area.
