MINDAKAMI is a Malaysian-based youth mental health initiative which aims to increase awareness about mental health issues by providing platforms for discussions and establishing projects that will normalize conversations about mental health and related issues. The series of projects that we take on aim to encourage people to not be afraid to speak about mental illness, get their voices heard and abolish the existing stigma. We want to promote a society that is not ashamed to seek the necessary support and professional treatment.-Summary of relevant work: 1. Safe platform for discussion: We recognize the importance of providing a platform for people to have meaningful conversations about mental health and a safe space for people to share personal experiences with mental health disorders2. Online emotional support: We welcome messages via Facebook & Twitter for people who need emotional support and have questions related to caring for their mental health3. Educating the public on mental health: Our aim is to increase mental health literacy within our community by addressing the stigma and misconceptions often associated with mental health problems. Therefore, our initiative is a movement rather than a service. We have a strong online presence and regularly engage in discussions about mental health online4.
