A progressive orphanage managed solely by volunteers which seeks to become self-sustainable, adhere to environmentally recognized best-practices, and serve any child in an inclusive and non-discriminatory manner. It is located about 27 miles southeast of Nairobi, Kenya in the Mua Hills of Machakos, County. Currently, about 30 children are in the care of the orphanage which provides them with a stable and secure environment. In addition to ensuring the basics of shelter, food and health care, providing a quality and innovative education for the children is a top priority. Malia Children's Home is licensed by the Kenyan government's Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Development as a Charitable Children's Institution (registration # 000564).
