Corey Bonnema is President of Manager Builders, a leadership and team development consulting and training business with the mission to improve performance of individuals and teams in government, healthcare, higher education, and small businesses. Corey is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Minnesota where teaches Management and Leadership courses for the College of Continuing Education and also serves as a lecturer at the Humphrey School of Public Policy and Affairs where he teaches a graduate level course on Group Process Facilitation.Colleagues describe Corey as "an expert trainer, engaging presenter, and resourceful researcher who loves helping employees and leaders develop the skills needed to be successful at work." Corey has twenty years of training experience and has consulted with leaders at all levels and human resources teams in a wide array of industries including banking, education, manufacturing, retail, and telecommunications. Prior to starting his company, Corey was Manager of Supervisory Development at the University of Minnesota where he was responsible for managing the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of training for more than 1,000 supervisors and managers. In this position he routinely coached managers on teambuilding, communication, and performance management issues and played a key role creating an engaging and high-performing culture. Corey earned his master's degree in human resources from the University of Minnesota and a bachelor's degree in management from St. John's University. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Susan, traveling and using his "assertiveness" skills to convince his very stubborn basset hound, Ruby, that he is walking her and not she walking him.
