mango in a pot was created with the intention to challenge our idea of art. There are tons of people (especially adults) who claim not to be artists because the art they create does not align with our conventional idea of "art." This is an old and scary thought. We are ALL artists, all capable of tapping into our creative center, some of us just need more help getting there. I want to challenge perfectionism both in my own work and in the people I teach. Art should be a release, a place where we physically manifest what we cannot verbally express. If we are thinking about how the art is "supposed" to look, we will never get to that form of raw expression. A pottery workshop with me is more like a therapy session, only you get to take your therapy home with you at the end.
