With Canadian youth political engagement declining in recent years, Many Are One, aims to create a national conversation, using Social Media Technology, to engage and encourage Youth to get and stay involved within the democratic process. Through the use of the technology pertinent issues will be distilled from the conversations of Canadian Youth released in reports to the general public. The program consists of a comprehensive national network of youth who will create content, and spread the word about the platform. Through a series of standardized questions, Many Are One's Regional Coordinators will video and post, 5 – 10 minute videos, of politicians, journalists, and media personalities, with the theme of "What will be important to Young Canadians in 2015". Many Are One, is a response to the growing influence of Social Media as a medium for societal change and is one of several programs launched out of the technological seeding of Ryerson Universities Digital Media Zone (DMZ), www.digitalmediazone.ryerson.ca/, to promote technological initiatives throughout Canada. The DMZ model links the resources of business, education, and community in an effort to foster student/recent graduate entrepreneurial endeavours.
