Our society is confronted by a very profound paradox where an abundance of food is currently left unused and yet many people remain hungry. Maple Leaf Harvest, a Canadian non-for-profit corporation, provides the solution by utilizing new technologies, advanced logistic methods, alternative food sources and emergency feeding agencies to feed the hungry men, women and children of Canada. The hungry and homeless need an organization that acts as a dependable link that connects the community's resources to the community's needs, effectively and efficiently. Maple Leaf Harvest works according to the "just-in-time" delivery model, which is proven to be much more cost-efficient and flexible than traditional approaches used by old-type food banks. We deploy Health-Department-Certified drivers with our refrigerated and fuel-efficient trucks that pick up the food donation from any location and deliver it free of charge to the shelters and soup kitchens that work closely with MLH. We don't have warehouses, we don't store the food! We immediately deliver the food directly from a donor to our approved beneficiaries. Our process keeps our costs extremely low! 80% of every donated dollar goes to our program costs: "fueling" our transportation system with trained commercial drivers, refrigerated trucks, fuel, phones, and insurances. We deliver the food completely for free; without any administrative or per pound charges.
