Perkhidmatan Kenderaan Bas RIDA (KBM) (RIDA has been operating since the early 1960's and since then, it has played a very important role towards the development of socio-economic aspect of rural communities, especially the Bumiputera community. The role that it carries become the basis for Tenth (10th ) Malaysia Plan emphasizing on government's focus to increase the quality of physical and social infrastructural access as well as allowing the rural community to afford all the necessities that they require. Following the KBM formation, Bahagian Kenderaan MARA (BKN) was also established within 1960's under the control of Lembaga Kemajuan Kampung (Village Development Board) and Rural Industry Development Authority (RIDA). The initial formation of BKN was to offer the transportation service towards the rural community especially the residents of Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA) and at the same time, assisting the Bumiputera to be involved in transportation industry. The experience of KBM, in catering the rural community has gone through so many changes in terms of its execution. Following the success, on 1st June 2013, KBM was officially corporatized and managed by one of MARA subsidiary, which is MARA Liner Sdn. Bhd. Through corporatization, all the activities beforehand that just solely focusing on bus services were diversified. The diversifications were implied so as to support the social service that they offer.
